My Skin Care Secrets...
Your skin care routine is so important. If your base is flawless everything else will fall into place. In the summer of 2017 my skin had taken a turn for the worse. My foundation was not applying well and I noticed I was breaking out considerably more. I was starting to get under the skin pimples and once I had battled the first round of spots I thought I was on the road to recovery but another breakout would occur in a different location. I was baffled, I genuinely thought my break outs were behind me and I never thought I would be in my 30’s with skin problems. After some trial and error I finally found a winning combination. All of the products, tips and tricks below have improved the quality of my skin.

Take your make up off
I cannot stress this enough! Ensure your make up is removed thoroughly before you go to bed. I use the Eau Thermale Avène Micellar Lotion Cleanser. This is the only make-up remover I have found which hasn’t irritated my skin and it has been formulated for all types of sensitive skin and eyes. I apply it onto a cotton facial pad and remove my makeup very gently. It doesn’t leave an oily residue and my skin feels refreshed after using this product.
Muslin cloths are another way to gently exfoliate the skin and gently cleanse the face. I rinse the cloth in hot water and gently cleanse my face to remove any make up residue left over from my micellar lotion. I always do this if I have been wearing a heavier makeup that day.
I used to think the answer to my problems was a rich moisturiser. However as my moisturisers got thicker my skin became noticeably drier. I now use the Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream. It is a fluid formula which is rapidly absorbed into the skin. It always leaves my skin feeling intensively moisturised. A key ingredient in this cream is the urea which helps support your skin’s moisture content. This face cream actively helps replenish the urea lost when the skin becomes dry and improves the skin's ability to retain moisture.
It is a toner, exfoliator, serum and moisturiser all in one. Using a cotton pad I apply it to the face, neck and décolletage and I don't follow with a moisturiser. I apply this to my skin when needed but no more than three times a week. My skin does feel more plump and resurfaced and this is my go to product if my skin needs a little boost before a big event.

My final tip is to stay hydrated. I have increased my water intake to 1.5/2 litres a day and this has considerably helped my skin and general well being. All of the above combined have helped my skin dramatically. Remember what works for you and your skin is the important tip of all, keep it clean and hydrated and everything else will fall into place.
